How to Boost Your Relationships.

When the light in your relationship begins to dim, it’s time to be proactive before things turn rotten.

The problem is that lots of people don’t understand that good relationships don’t just happen out of thin air and they need to be worked at and it takes a great deal of effort for partners to be blissfully happy and content for ten years or more.

Don’t blame each other.

One of the main problems when relationships go south is that the people in a relationship tend to blame the other person, or even worse, blame themselves.

Quit this gibberish right now and the sad fact is, it takes two  to play up, and if there is a problem with your relationship, it’s because of both of you.

Create time for each other.

Aside from blaming anyone, you need to make time to rekindle things.

Understandably, both of you have tight schedules, but unless you can make time to see each other, only the two of you, your problems are unlikely to get better.

Set some time aside, maybe twice a week, when you and your partner can enjoy some special time together with no distractions.

Make more effort.

One of the sad facts of life is that couples, after spending a few years together, rarely make an effort when it comes to caring about how they look.

This can have a negative effect on any relationship.

If the girl doesn’t bother with her make up any more, her partner is going to notice – and the same goes if the man doesn’t bother changing from his work clothes in the evening, or supposing he doesn’t shave.

It seems like you don’t care – not very inspiring for a healthy relationship so make an effort to smarten yourself up – you’ll be stunned how much of a difference it can make!

Hang out together.

Socializing as a couple, with other people, is a brilliant way to better your relationship.

Make sure you have a regular occassion with some old friends, either round yours, at their place, or somewhere else.

Being with old friends, you’ll have a fun time and it will help you to feel youthful again!

Work on your love life.

One of the major causes of relationship problems is due to the “sex factor”.

It’s an interesting fact that many married and/or long term couples don’t have great sex lives.

This can be a major cause of relationship trouble, or it can happen as a result of these issues.

Think about how to add some energy to your loves lives, such as going out for a romantic meal to get you in the mood, or do something crazy to spice things up.

If it comes to it, maybe consider seeing a sex counselor because, let’s face it,sex is a vital part of any relationship, and if you don’t care about this then your problems won’t go away.

Skin Care Secrets Hidden At The Greengrocer’s

Interest in skin care supplements, or beauty foods, has been strong in Asia, and that trend is growing fast in Europe as well.

These nutrient rich beauty foods make a good case for starting a beauty regime from within, one that is designed to prevent or reduce the effects of aging, like sagging skin.

Some products on the market include a supplement containing lacto-lycopene, vitamin C, and soy isoflavones.

This is aimed at restoring firmness to the skin for women over 40, and was developed by Nestle and L’Oreal.

Others have been developed using lycopene and grape seed extract, both antioxidants. Grape seed extract also stops enzymatic reactions that lead to collagen in the skin being broken down.

Antioxidants protect the capillaries in skin and thus ensure that enough nutrients get to the living cells that eventually push their way to the surface and become the skin you see in the mirror.

They also protect from broken veins and early wrinkling whilst the capillaries also deliver oxygen to the cells, and remove the waste products of cellular metabolism.

This prevents puffy, sagging, and dull skin but you don’t always need to reach for a bottle of supplements.

Simply by eating more antioxidant rich food on a daily basis should see some improvement in skin tone.

Fruits rich in antioxidants include blueberries, prunes, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, apples, cherries and plums. and of the vegetables, eat more artichokes, broccoli, red cabbage, pontiac potatoes, brown onions, asparagus, non-green capsicum, beetroot, spinach and sweet potatoes.

Women are more prone to the damage caused by antioxidants than men, according to research from the University of Berkeley, and hence possibly their aging effects.

Another strong antioxidant is beta carotene which is found in green leafy vegetables, fruit and carrots.

This antioxidant has been found to counteract the effects of a particular type of oxygen free radical, singlet oxygen, which occurs after the skin is exposed to UV radiation in sunlight.

UV exposure can lead to premature aging by the effects of singlet oxygen and a study found that whilst the provitamin A aspect of the carotenoid did not combat the singlet oxygen, the beta carotene did.

It prevented the action of two enzymes, associated with UV light and the destruction of the skin cell’s extracellular matrix, which happens in premature aging of the skin.

Sunlight also destroys beta carotene in cells after sun exposure, so this beta carotene has to be replaced.

Beta carotene has been reported as having a mild sunscreen effect too, though it needs to be taken as a supplement to get this effect.

The skin care supplement beauty market is still not a strongly developed one however, as these types of supplements tend to be more expensive than other supplements. And there needs to be more research and clinical trials to prove which products do what they are designed to.

Your Health And The Supplements You Take.

Many people, today, are trying to make themselves more healthy and feel better by turning to dietary and vitamin supplements.

No matter where you turn, from TV to newspapers, you’ll see stories about how the health of the world population is actually deteriorating.

Even though there are many different companies out there that offer vitamins and supplements and claim that they will make you more healthy, you’ll need to research what they offer and sure that you aren’t just wasting your money.

If you are looking to improve your health, you’ll need to look at many different vitamin supplements to find which ones are the best for you.

You should look at everything available, and not just try a few to see what happens but, before turning to vitamin supplements, diet and changing what you are eating is the best place to start as it can make the most improvements on your health.

Your diet and what you eat can change your body, and make you feel a lot better as well.

These days, a lot of people eat way too many sweets and too much sugar, choosing refined products over healthy food.

Even though it isn’t a bad thing to enjoy sweets and chocolate in moderation, you should never make a habit out of it.

You can still enjoy your favorite foods as well, although you should be looking at the healthy benefits of food as well and think of everything as a whole.

If you include healthy foods such as salads, vegetables, and fruit into your diet, you’ll be eating healthy.

Protein is also beneficial to your health, as it promotes the growth of your muscle.

Those of you, who are serious about eating healthy but are unsure where to start, should contact a nutritionist who should be able to tell you where to start, and how to achieve a healthy diet that will change your life.

Even though you may be eating healthy or trying to eat healthy, you’ll probably find yourself wondering about vitamins and supplements and how much of an impact they have on your diet.

Dieticians are ideal to consult with these types of questions, as they can answer any questions relating to vitamins that you have and they can also tell you which supplements are ideal to your health, and which ones you should include in your diet.

Different people will have different needs and requirements, making it essential to get advice from a qualified professional.

If you get the advice from a professional, you’ll know what you can add to your diet, but if you try to do it all yourself without the advice of a professional, you can end up not getting enough in your diet, or you could end up taking something that you shouldn’t be taking.

Exercise is also important to your diet and your health.

Although supplements and vitamins will go a long way, exercise will do a lot for your body and if you exercise on a regular basis and take the right supplements and vitamins with your diet, you’ll notice that you have more energy and you feel better than you ever have in your life.

Before you start with your new diet or rush out and buy your new vitamin supplements, you should always check with your doctor first to see if he has any recommendations.

You should also tell him what type of exercise you are planning on doing, and see if there are any complications with your health.

Getting a healthy lifestyle is always a great thing, although you should always consult with your doctor.

Facial Massage

Facial Massage

The oldest known Facial massage in human history dates back to the third century B.C. where it was written about in an ancient Chinese medical text.

Scientists have discovered many subsequent ancient medical records in archeological digs conducted in Greece, Persia, Japan and India.

All these early-day writings have one thing in common, their Facial massages were described in vivid details but always as part and parcel of total body massage therapies.

Specific pressure points on areas of the face and neck were depressed sufficiently to loosen obstructions in the flow of the vital energy which is also known as gi.

The standalone Facial massage of the recent Western world was popularized in the twentieth century Europe before it was imported into the North American world of cosmetic and beauty treatments.

As a result, Facial massage came to be regarded as the job for estheticians, cosmetologists and makeup artists rather than massage therapists.

In the cosmetic and beauty arena, the Facial massage is administered with the intent to slow down the natural aging process and to attain younger, healthier and more vibrant looking and feeling facial skin, however, Facial massage also has therapeutic benefits as it can relieve and mitigate stress, migraine headaches, premenstrual syndromes (PMS) as well as sinus congestion.

In spite of their growing demand as entire massage sessions of their own, Facial massages are not precluded from total body massage treatments and needless to say, Facial massage treatments which are performed for the entire session are much more comprehensive and include many elements which are not included in  full body treatments.

In both instances, though, gentle yet stimulating upward strokes are used in circular or semi-circular gliding movements.

Facial massages may also include the removal of facial hair as well as the removal of blackheads and whiteheads which will necessitate a moist steam treatment and these three elements will be included right after the massage session and before the application of the moisturizer.

In addition, the entire process may culminate in the application of full or partial makeup and sometimes even a hairdo.

Facial massages are part of full body treatments in Eastern therapies where pressure is applied to points on the face which correspond to various internal organs such as the stomach, the liver and the gall bladder.

With such different techniques, it is not surprising therefore, that the benefits of the Eastern Facial massages are very different from those of the West.

Facial massages are most often performed with bare hands that are lightly lubricated by oils or lotions to help them glide more smoothly over delicate facial skin, however, there are some mechanical devices that may also be used instead of the hands or in addition to them.

Best of all, in my opinion, Facial massages can very easily and effectively be self administered just about any time and anywhere, and there are countless resources on the Internet that will instruct interested persons how to master Facial massage.

Fitness & Nutrition

Fitness & Nutrition

My speciality is Make up and skin care, NOT fitness & nutrition, however, I have spent years working myself from a size 18 down to a size 10 simply down to
fitness & nutrition.

So the idea here is to give you a bit of a lowdown from a normal human beings perspective who likes the odd glass of wine or 5 and
could quite happily trough my way through a whole packet of jaffa cakes without it touching the sides!

I’m going to tell you how I manage to live a fulfilled and fun lifestyle whilst keeping my fitness & nutrition in top form.

Fitness & Exercise

First thing I will say, the gym is NOT a necessity by any means, and I appreciate a lot of people find it a complete bore quite frankly.

I find nothing more satisfying than a good gym workout and by using all the different machines you can really concentrate on the areas you want to target, however, for beginners, a brisk 40 minute power walk 3 times a week can have just as much impact on the body.

If you do decide to join your local gym make sure you have a member of staff help to create the right programme for you.

fitness and nutrition

Road running

Everyone has a different fitness level so get a plan specifically for you.

All decent gyms should offer an appointment to make a programme for you within your joining pack, so don’t be afraid to go for it if you want.

I remember the first time I set foot in a gym, it really was terrifying, but within a few minutes the staff made me feel totally at ease and I realised that no matter how much I think someone appears in better shape then me, we are all in there to do the same thing, improve our fitness and build confidence in our bodies.

Perhaps, after a few weeks, invest in a few personal trainer sessions.

They are qualified to help with fitness and nutrition and are amazing for motivation and spurring you on to run for that extra 30 seconds.

If you dont want to pay for a trainer, here are a few tips from me:-

  • Stick to about 40 minutes of cardiovascular exercise on either the bike, cross trainer or treadmill, then about 15 minutes of core work and light weights, low weights with high repetitions to start. This will still help to burn fats, and contrary to what you may think, women will not build too much muscle and look like a russian shot putter from lifting a few 7kg weights a few times a week. These massive muscle women spend their whole life building muscle, not through an hour workout 3 or 4 times a week.
  • If you get the bus to work get off a stop earlier to give you a little extra walk. I park my car a 15 minute walk away from work, it means that 5 times a week i do 30 minutes walking a day, and that’s before I’ve been to the gym or been out for a run.
  • Road running is great for toning as the uneven surfaces really work every muscle in the body, but it is more difficult then running on the treatmill so perservere with road running.

Nutrition

Fitness & nutrition go hand in hand, pointless doing all that hard work then going home to eat the wrong food.

I find that the easiest thing to do it make sure I eat the right food at the right times.

Do not skip breakfast, its the best start to the day. A bowl of bran flakes or piece of toast would be enough and keep away from the fry up. My favourite breakfast ever is branflakes topped with a chopped banana for added sweetness.

I tend to eat the majority of my carbohydrates in the morning or before a long run to give me the energy, but they are equally as important post exercise to help the body recover.

Leave the faddy diets to someone else.

Healthy eating

  • Atkins gives you smelly breath and constipation.
  • The zone diet is far too confusing.
  • The g.i diet I have no idea on.
  • The starvation diet just isn’t sensisble.

Its all about everything in moderation, if you stop eating anything with even a little fat in it your body will just go into shock the minute it touches your lips again.

Nuts are great for this, they have essential fatty acids and are great for the skin, but if you fancy that little bag of crisps or bar of choccy then go for it, everything in moderation and if you dont you will crave, binge then feel awful after.

Plenty of fresh fruit, veg, and meat with the right carbs at the right time and your sorted.

A little tip I have learned here, don’t bother with finding someone to buddy up with because you both want to ditch those last few lbs before your flight
departs from pastures sunnier.

There’s a pretty high risk one of you will give up before the other, so do it for YOURSELF! Decide to make the change with your
fitness & nutrition purely on your own terms, so get on those trainers, a few good tunes on the ipod and get your fitness & nutrition in tip top condition.
